Language of Documentation

UNSMIS is a worldwide medical insurance plan, and as such, we pose no restrictions on the language in which we receive bills. However, we strongly encourage that bills be submitted in English or French to speed up the reimbursement process and avoid potential errors.

For anyone submitting documentation in a language other than the six official UN languages (English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, and Russian), we kindly ask you to follow the procedures below:

Provide a brief but comprehensive free translation of all invoices and proofs of payment. This translation can be done by yourself (i.e., it is a free translation). Please make sure to translate the following for each invoice:

  • Date of invoice
  • Treatment type (e.g., dermatologist, physiotherapy, etc.)
  • Treatment dates (e.g., 2, 3, and 4 July 2025)
  • Hospital-related invoices should also clearly state the type of operation, the number of nights spent in the hospital, and whether the stay was in a semi-private room, a private room, or a public ward.
  • Invoices about sessions of various treatments should clearly state the number of sessions taken and the dates of each. These should be accompanied by the relevant medical prescriptions.

Kindly sign and date each translated invoice for legal purposes.

Please note: Failure to present documentation in any language other than the six official UN languages, that does not follow the above steps, may result in non-reimbursement, return of claim requests, or a delay in reimbursement.
